Father wanted Manmohan Singh to become a doctor

In the year 2014, Daman Singh wrote a book named ‘Strictly Personal: Manmohan and Gursharan’. In this book he had mentioned how his father left medical studies and turned to economics. Daman writes, “Since his father wanted him to become a doctor, he (Manmohan Singh) enrolled in a two-year F.Sc. program, which would have given him the opportunity to pursue further medical studies. He dropped out after a few months. Granted, he had lost interest in becoming a doctor. In fact, he had also lost interest in studying science.
